A LED wedge base is a type of light bulb with two wires that extend upwards from the base of the bulb (rather than being pins), and the wires are pressed tightly and some are molded to the sides of the glass and when pushed straight in make contact with the socket. On glass wedge base bulbs the tip is typically narrower than the top so it wedges itself into the socket giving the light bulb a tight connection. Some wedge bulbs also have a plastic base, and once pushed deep into the socket snap in.
Wedge Base Bulbs of this type are typically used in low voltage landscape and garden lighting where a single element is used. It is also common for Wedge Base Bulbs to have dual elements, acting as both a low brightness parking or running lights and higher brightness turn signals.
